Knowledge Server
The Know-Net Tool is designed to support and enable a scaleable Knowledge Management System,
from a small team, an SME, or a large Global Enterprise wide KM initiative.
To truly create, retain, leverage, reuse, measure and optimise the use of the knowledge
assets of the entire organisation requires a design of a centralised Knowledge Server
that will manage the 'content' to:
- Receive explicit knowledge objects from all the business processes performed in the
organisation into a knowledge object store
- Maintain and develop explicit knowledge objects in one central place, avoiding
duplication and fragmentation of knowledge
- Allow for enterprise wide navigation, searching, filtering and dissemination of explicit
knowledge objects
Furthermore, to truly create, retain, leverage, reuse, measure and optimise the use of the
knowledge assets of the entire organisation requires a design of a centralised Knowledge Server that will manage the 'processes' to:
- Identify and generate knowledge assets
- Manage and leverage knowledge assets
- Measure knowledge assets
- Disseminate knowledge assets
Furthermore, to truly create, retain, leverage, reuse, measure and optimise the use
of the knowledge assets of the entire organisation requires a design of a centralised
Knowledge Server that will manage the 'networks' to:
- Manage better communications between knowledge workers in 'virtual spaces'
- Manage better collaboration between knowledge workers in 'virtual spaces'
- Manage better tacit knowledge creation and sharing between knowledge workers in
'virtual spaces'
